FAQs

Who is The Happy Elf?

On the 1st of December, The Happy Elf visits their human family. With them, they bring fun activities which spread happiness, kindness, good deeds and cheer! On Christmas Eve The Happy Elf disappears until the following year…

I have more than one child, do I need to buy an activity pack for each of them?
No, just the one activity pack is enough because we have given suggestions on how to share the activities and given a few “optional extra” printables too. But if you think they just aren’t going to cope with sharing the codes and jokes, we suggest you order an activity pack for each of them.

I don’t have access to a printer, but I have more than one child. Do I still need a printer?
No, the main activities have everything the children need to read and write upon (if required). But a notebook, sheet of paper or card would be fine instead.

How does the activity pack work?
First, you can use our “HANDY LISTS” page to gather any extras you may need for the MAIN activities to get yourself organised. Or you can use the list on each instructions page and gather bits as you go along.

Can we do the activities in any order?
Yes, you can do any activity page in any order (except for The Happy Elf’s arrival and departure). We also have a Stargazing activity, this should be done a few days before, during or after the new moon. Don’t worry – we have added the dates and some other bits of helpful information and tips for you to see through your private access to the QR codes for each MAIN activity.

Do we have to do all three activities on the card each day?
No, not at all. It’s up to you. You can pick and choose to just do one, two or all three activities each day. There’s so much in this pack for you to choose from, the codes and activities could keep the little ones entertained over Twixmas and into the New Year!

What is a QR Code?
This is an image which is made up of unique squares or dots. You can scan a QR code with a compatible phone or tablet. To do this, open the built-in camera app, and point the camera at the QR code. Then tap the banner that appears on the screen.

Can I reuse this pack year after year? It is designed for one-time use. However, if children write/draw on separate pieces of paper/card when required, you could reuse the pack.

What size is the activity pack?
It is A5 in size and most prop cards are approximately A6 in size, with some cut into smaller sections. In a handful of the activities, we recommend they draw on a larger piece of paper instead of on the prop card. This is all explained in the instructions. Also if you have toddlers, we recommend they draw any pictures onto paper or card.

Are the activity cards loose?
No, they are bound together with a metal “wiro” and printed on 250 gsm sustainably produced cards. You can flick through the pack and cut out any sections you need, by simply following the dotted lines.

What age is the pack suitable for?
It is mostly suitable for all ages apart from a couple of activities. This is the only reason we have recommended the age 6+ We wouldn’t want anyone to be disappointed.

We have more than one elf in our home, will it still work for us?
Yes! Each activity has been written so the phrasing is suitable for one or more Happy Elves.

Do I have to get many bits for it?
Just use our HANDY LISTS page and gather what you need. We hope you will have at least 60% of it already (most of it is household items). There are some also “Optional Extras” which you can leave or go for, it’s up to you.

Do any Happy Elves come with the “Happy Elf Activities” pack?
This is an activity pack (in the format of a book) and no Happy Elves are included.

Do we have to print the optional extras?
No, the extras are optional. They are mostly larger (full colour or greyscale) versions of the MAIN activities for children to design, draw or write on. There’s also an optional downloadable certificate (via the QR code) for you to personalise as a prize for completing some of the activities. The other optional extras are also an option for additional children, as an alternative to writing/drawing on a notepad/paper.

We use the name “Father Christmas”, is this name used in the pack too?
The only prop cards which refer to “Santa” in the pack are  “The Happy List” certificate and the “Day Off” slips. We have included optional downloads for these (via the QR code on “The Happy List” page) with a blank space at the bottom so you can print one off and add your preferred signature.
