Scene Set up Ideas...
We had great fun writing “The Bossy Elf’s Terrible Tasks” for you. We’ve tried them all out at home and we think the tasks will bring fun and laughter to make your run-up to Christmas a fun and memorable one!
This arrival scene simply explains to the children why The Bossy Elf is so bossy! It is also a fun introduction to the tasks The Bossy Elf has schemed up this year!
Our “treat of choice” is a small pile of chocolate coins (we are big fans of chocolate in our home so you will see various chocolate-related treats in our scenes throughout).
If you don’t have a fireplace to set your scene at each night, don’t worry, choose somewhere else like a comfy chair or the windowsill (or mix it up a little – keeping the children guessing where The Bossy Elf will be each morning).
You may also want to sculpt an animal from The Bossy Elf for the little ones to discover too!
TIP: If you don’t have any white-tac or blu-tac then try this with playdough instead. Here’s a simple optional recipe for you:
“One Cup Playdough“
- Take 1 cup of flour, 1/2 cup of salt and 2 teaspoons of Cream of tartar in a mixing bowl.
- Then add 1 cup of water, 1 tablespoon of oil and an optional splash of food colouring.
- Mix it all together until it’s smooth, and put it in a microwave for 30 seconds. Take out and stir!
Optional Extra Certificates – We have made a certificate (links below), which you could use as an award in some of the tasks, should you wish.
If this arrival option isn’t for you, take a look at Option 2, which uses everyday household items.
